Lichfield City FC have been told to show their opening day win wasn’t a one-off as they return to action against near neighbours Pelsall Villa.

Paul Holt’s men got off to a winning start in the Midland Football League on Saturday when Liam Holt and Ahmet Bilgimer earned them a 2-0 victory.

But the City boss knows his side must show consistency if they are to fulfill their ambitions this term.

“We have to back up Saturdays performance against Pelsall Villa,” he said. “We drew both games against last season’s basement side. That’s something we have to address and put right this time.

“We know what to expect – a tough physical battle. They have a different chairman and manager this season and I have heard positive things from their pre-season games so we know it’s going to be difficult.

“But if we show the same attitude as we showed on Saturday then I’m confident we can pick up the three points.”

Kick-off at Lichfield’s Brownsfield Park home tonight (August 6) is at 7.45pm.
