CHASETOWN manager Jamie Hawkins says he was pleased with his side’s reaction in their victory over Wythenshawe Town.
The Scholars came out on top in a 3-2 victory, but had fallen behind early on to a Wealth Da Silva strike.
Goals from Sam Wilding and George Cater turned the game around, only for Wythenshawe to level again with a quarter of an hour left to play.
But Jack Langston’s composed finish ensured the points returned home with The Scholars.
Boss Hawkins said:
“The first goal was totally against the run of play, but I was really pleased with our reaction.
“I thought we contained and controlled them in the first half, despite going behind. Credit to Wythenshawe, they made two changes at the break which gave us a different proposition to deal with.
“They were much better in the second half and put us under a bit of pressure at times, but I still felt that we controlled large parts of the game.
“It is nice to come away with all three points – we have performed well away from home against Avro, Congleton, and Clitheroe recently, so a win had been coming.”
The result sees Chasetown sit eighth in the table, seven points behind leaders Lower Breck.
