CHASETOWN kicked off 2026 by collecting maximum points against Sporting Khalsa at The Scholars Ground.
Jamie Hawkins’ side returned to Church Street keen to follow up Boxing Day victory at Stafford Rangers last time out.
New signing Kevin Spinelli quickly opened the scoring with a neat finish over the Khalsa keeper in the sixth minute.
Hawkins said:
“He would’ve hoped for a start like that. It’s great for him, and I thought his overall contribution today was really good.”
A quick start to the match saw Andre Landell shown red after a challenge on Brandon Newell to reduce the visitors to ten men.
Joe Thomspon poked another home from a corner in the 27th minute to extend Chasetown’s lead.
The hosts enjoyed the majority of the ball in the second half as Khalsa were pinned down and lacking in bodies.
Substitute Joey Butlin eventually sealed the result when he stood over a free-kick in the 87th minute and curled the ball into the net.
The visitors bagged a consolation when skipper Kristian Green scored in stoppage time as The Scholars ran out 3-1 winners.
Hawkins said:
“I was really pleased with our control throughout the game. As long as we were careful with the ball, then we controlled and snubbed a lot of their threats.
“We want to continue to build – the result against Stafford was superb and to back that up was all we could ask for.
“To pick up six points over the Christmas period is really pleasing.”
