Two men have tricked their way into an 80-year-old woman’s home in Burntwood and stolen more than £3,000.
A man knocked at the door on Oakdene Avenue at 8.30am on Wednesday (February 8), saying he would look at fencing to see if it needed to be replaced.
The woman let the man in and he made her an offer to carry out work. She agreed and went to a cupboard to collect cash. He then asked her to open the back door while he fetched an extension lead – while she was gone he took £3,100 in cash before leaving.
The man is described as being a white male in his 40s, around 5ft 9” to 6ft tall, of large build. He was wearing a black, long-sleeved top, dark trousers and a hat.
A second man is also suspected of being involved. He was in a vehicle, described as a clean white or silver Vauxhall Astra car derived van, which had no sign writing on it. The second man is described as a white male, aged 18-19, of sturdy build, with light blond hair and wearing a dark polo shirt.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 108 of Wednesday 8 February.
