The new leader of Burntwood Town Council would need to be Superwoman to represent three different areas at once, a Labour councillor has claimed.
Cllr Norma Bacon was appointed less than a month after a controversial decision to co-opt her onto the council.
Opposition councillors say an agreement had been made to allow Rob Birch to be co-opted following the resignation of Labour’s Keith Willis-Croft in the Chasetown ward.
Cllr Eric Drinkwater, Labour representative for Chase Terrace on the council, has questioned how Cllr Bacon can balance her roles on Lichfield District Council and Lichfield City Council with the leadership of Burntwood Town Council.
“There was me thinking Superman and Superwoman were myths,” he said. “How wrong can one be?
“We now have a woman representing Leomansley ward for Lichfield City Council, Curborough ward for Lichfield District Council and Chasetown ward for Burntwood Town Council. To top it all, Norma Bacon is now the leader of the Tory group on Burntwood Town Council too.
“All of this is a tall order by anyone’s standards.”
