Organisations in Lichfield and Burntwood are being given the chance to earn grants to help support local projects.

The application process for Lichfield District Council’s Small Grants scheme has begun with groups being invited to apply for funding before December 17.

Grants of up to £1,000 are awarded and can be used by not-for-profit groups for projects ranging from art schemes, festivals and fetes or to buy play equipment.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said:

“We’re pleased to once again offer local organisations that are based in Lichfield District, who provide a service to the local community, the opportunity to apply to our Small Grants scheme.

“The grant could be anything from £75 to spend on toys for a toddler group, to £1,000 to help organise a village fete. So, if your group is in need of a funding boost, and as long as you have a bank account in your group’s name, make sure you apply for a small grant.”

Because the council has a limited amount of funding, it will be prioritising projects that contribute to one or more of its ambitions. These include:

  • a clean and safe environment
  • a thriving economy
  • a good place to live
  • a better quality of life
  • a joint effort

The council is also reminding local groups that they could apply for a grant of up to £5,000 through Grant Aid Plus. This is the scheme that awards funding to groups within Lichfield District for projects that will strongly impact on the council’s ambitions.

The deadline for all applications is 4pm on December 17, 2010. To find out more or to request a Small Grants or Grant Aid Plus application form, call Stephen Lightfoot on 01543 308220, email [email protected] or download an application form from www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/grants.
