The organisers of Lichfield’s first half-marathon have had to stop accepting entries – after 1,300 runners signed up to take part in the race.

The event on May 1 is now fully subscribed and has exceeded the number of athletes that were expected to take part.

Race secretary Paul Griffin of organisers KP Events, said:

“It’s fantastic that the event is full, now we need a good day weather-wise and for the people of the city and surrounding areas to come to Stowe Field to see the finish at around 11.30am. It will also be nice for people to come out en route in Whittington and Fradley too when the runners pass through.”
